Daphne

We normally see Daphne in her metamorphic state when she turned into a tree. Her arms and feet became branches and roots. This is how Gaia saved her daughter from Apollo's persecution.

In my work, Gaia is the jealous hinderer. Daphne fights for her love for Apollo, to be his wife. The alluring, sensual contours are forcibly engulfed inside in the rigidity of the wood. Still feeling like a woman is juxtaposed with Becoming empty. In a silent struggle, the power pushes intensely inwards and outwards.
